Choosing a software
The objectives of this site is a self actualization, so the software selection is aimed to all facilities which are free. Also the site was built without any support of the mastering of sophisticated software, so the selection is intended to use an easy and free CMS. There are 3 options: Drupal, Wordpres, and Joomla. Existing information said that Joomla, is best CMS for the years 2008 while Drupal, is the best in the year of 2007, so the options become more limited to the 2 existing CMS. Finally, my choice is to Drupal, because of the ease in understanding.
Choosing a domain name
The domain name is the identity of the site. The domain name is equivalent to giving a name to a new born child. The name selection, should be considered carefully, also this name will be used for a lifetime. Selection of the domain name anthony web.id in a response to the purpose of the site, which is a private site, and web.id selected to the residency in Indonesia. The cost needed to register this domain name was VERY cheap, only Rp. 25,000 per year.
Selecting a webhosting
Selection the Webhosting is also based on free webhost. Before I had to selected 2 webhosts, the mashsolution.co.uk and 000webhost.com. Mashsolution.co.uk facilities offer easy installation in Drupal, but the quota offer by 000webhost.com far greater. Both webhosting, have no enough support in guiding to produce a website that is easy to understand. Finally I choosed the 000webhost.com, based on the quota, to anticipate many errors in making this first website. (Now I realize that for the beginning, quota is not too important, but the speed and ease on access are the most importants. For that, facility of the 000webhost.com provided has never bring any problems).
Start creating website content
After the framework is created, then start making any posts to accommodate the major topics within the framework are made. Those points would be transfer into the main menu. After the menus are created, then started to write articles.
Website introduction
There are no people who build a website without any desire to produce a quiet site. All webmaster have a desire to have a lot of internet explorer that enter and will interact with them. So the strategy needed to create the website to be known. There are 3 ways: promoting their site or making a search engines offer to the netters and make comments on the article or joing groups or forums that are in accordance with the content of the site.
A promotion activity is the easiest, but requires many costs. Making your site in search engines required a skill in choosing specific tags or keywords to be filtered by a search engine. Become a member of a group or forums, e.g. yahoo groups, digg, etc. would be necessary, but we has to jump into their shoes.
After all of these items have been done then, the others assessment on how intereting the website creates would be judge. This would need a good review, and if necessary the adjustment has to be made to fulfill the netters needs and wants.
